Antony’s quality has spoken
South American football expert Tim Vickery has given his thoughts on Manchester United’s pursuit of the winger.
He says he is very impressed with the work manager Erik ten Hag did with him at Ajax, signing him from Sao Paulo in 2020.
vickery said sky sports: “As soon as Ten Hag went to Old Trafford, I thought he was going to take Antony with him, because Ten Hag did a wonderful job of developing this player. Left-handed winger, when he went to Ajax , he had talent but he was very raw.
“Ten Hag turned him into a quick little winger who can play on both flanks, his decision making has improved a lot, he can also work back and do a shift so as soon as Ten Hag went there -down, I thought, Antony is her man.
“In the great tradition of Old Trafford wing play, you can really imagine the fans liking what Antony can deliver.”
In a separate interview with off the ballVickery added “He’s a very, very talented player”, before remarking that given the high fee United have spent on defender Lisandro Martinez, the high valuation Ajax are placing on Antony seems plausible.
Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Antony has already agreed personal terms with Manchester United, but the two clubs are yet to agree a fee.
Antony hasn’t trained with Ajax since the middle of last week and also missed the Dutchman’s last game.
