By Ruben Morales Iglesias: The Belize Men’s National Under-19 Football Team (BMNT) will play against Honduras, El Salvador and Nicaragua in U19 Central American Championship as the FFB organizes in Belmopan from Sunday.
The seven Central American countries plus Puerto Rico as guests participate in the Central American Championship at the FFB Stadium and the Isidoro Beaton Stadium in Belmopan from Sunday April 24 to Saturday April 30.
Tickets for games cost $5, said the FFB which is asking fans to attend games in support of our young men.
Belize, Honduras, El Salvador and Nicaragua are in Group A while Guatemala, Panama, Costa Rica and Puerto Rico are in Group B.
The U19 BMNT will play their first three games at 7:00 p.m. at the FFB Stadium.
On opening day, Sunday, April 24, Belize takes on Nicaragua. On Tuesday, BMNT will face El Salvador. The last group game will be against Honduras on Thursday.
Belize will still have one game to play on the final day, Saturday April 30. Opponents, date, time and location will depend on our final position in Group B.
The tournament will be held as a round robin. The group winners play for the championship on Saturday April 30. On the same day, the two second-place teams play for third place, the two third-place teams play for fifth place, and the two last-place teams play for seventh place.
Matches will be played on Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. Four matches are scheduled for each of these four days: two at the FFB Stadium and two at the Beaton Isidoro.
All national teams should arrive here on Friday April 22 and should leave on Monday May 1.
