June 27, British American football started for the first time since September 2019.

Twenty-one months ago the London Warriors won his sixth National championship in just seven years, showing that they are undoubtedly the engine of American football in Britain.

However, as COVID-19 has swept Europe, British football has been sidelined. Although restrictions were lifted in the country in August 2020, the governing body, the British American Football Association (BAFA), decided he wasn’t safe to play, leaving all potential Brits to watch countries like Finland and Austria get a sprinkle of sports.

Fast forward to early 2021 and it looked like there was a return to football in the UK. With a slight change, however. BAFA set up a small regional system that was no longer divided into divisions – with the exception of London. Fourteen regions have been defined by the league with four to six teams in each, depending on how many teams, regardless of division, were in those catchment areas before COVID. The only exception was, and is, London because the league felt that it would be unfair to force lower division teams to play the Warriors who beat regularly Prime Minister teams (first division) by unbalanced scores.

Although the restrictions in England have been completely lifted, they remain in the rest of the UK and the league therefore deemed it appropriate not to british bowl this year and instead simply crown the regional champions based on wins and losses.
