CAF fines Egyptian Football Federation $100,000

CAIRO, February 2, 2022: The CAF Disciplinary Committee has decided to impose a fine of 100,000 US dollars on the Egyptian Football Federation, during the participation of the Egyptian national team in the African Cup of Nations. Nations 2021 in Cameroon.

The penalty was imposed on the Egyptian Football Association of $50,000, for violating the protocols and media guidelines of the Africa Cup of Nations.

This is due to the absence of representatives of the Egyptian national team at the January 29 press conference before the Morocco game, which is part of the commitments of all teams participating in the tournament.

CAF gave its Egyptian counterpart 60 days to pay the fine.

The Disciplinary Committee also imposed another fine on the Egyptian Federation of $50,000, suspended, due to the team’s failure to comply with the decisions and directives of CAF agreed during the team meeting which took place. preceded the tournament with the media and marketing managers, and to confirm it by the documents and instructions given to them upon their arrival in Cameroon.

Egypt will face Cameroon in the semi-finals of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations next Thursday.

Hosts Cameroon qualified for the semi-finals by beating Gambia, while Egypt beat Morocco by two goals to one.
