FIFA, a governing body for futsal, beach football and, most importantly, association football. Founded in 1904 to oversee the international games, the body now consists of 211 national associations. Although FIFA may seem like a global entity to some, it certainly does not set the rules for the beautiful game. However, they enforce that in their competitions. One of the organization’s main financial streams would be sponsorship revenue, earned through tournaments and other competitions held by the federation. In fact, FIFA recorded a positive net revenue stream of ($1.2 billion) for the period 2015-2018, a lucrative sum from sponsorship deals and other off-pitch projects.

Any multi-billion dollar organization comes with controversy, sources of income, incentives and intentions are all questioned, especially as they are big stakeholders in the future of the sport which is enjoyed in the whole world. The governing body has been linked to scandals such as rigging, bribery, bribery and incentive selection for two decades.

Now let’s move on to the real subject, the acts of corruption that FIFA allegedly committed. Well, speculation resurfaced recently, when the venue for the 2022 FIFA World Cup was announced in Qatar in 2010 (lack of) nature of building infrastructure for the massive event. For about 8 years, Russia and Qatar have been suspected of a scandal involving bribes, in their charge of hosting the coveted competition. In October 2021, the United States Department of Justice said that representatives of both nations had bribed FIFA, to secure victory in their bids for the respective competitions. Qatar, a small state with scorching temperatures, won the bid over the United States, in a voting selection that included two officials who had sold their say in the bid for an unconfirmed sum. While the 2018 World Cup in Russia was also under scrutiny, Qatar faced yet another backlash, once it was discovered it would be a ‘Winter World Cup’ , beginning in November and ending in December.

Now let’s move on to the faces of corruption as far as this federation is concerned: Sepp Blatter and Michel Platini. Blatter is a Swiss football official, who served as FIFA President from 1998 to 2015, while Michel Platini has a slightly different heritage, considered by many to be one of the greatest football players of all time, winning the very coveted Ballon d’Or winner three times, and known for serving as UEFA president from 2007 to 2016. While neither man is a stranger to controversy, they have been criticized for a plethora of reasons, Blatter for his track record of financial mismanagement and global corruption, and Platini for similar reasons, including ethics violations.

First, assess Sepp Blatter, a man who had been accused of numerous cases of budget misallocation during his long career. An example would be an allegation regarding FIFA’s partnership with ISL, which collapsed, resulting in a loss (-$100m) for the organization. However, the file handed over to the Swiss authorities provoked little negative reaction for the president, with FIFA having to pay the costs.

As for Platini, he was banned in 2015 due to an ethics violation by FIFA, as part of a ban that was to last until 2023. He and Blatter were the subject of a formal investigation into this and for an alleged payment made by Blatter of ($2). m) to Platini, before his run for the presidency of FIFA. On December 21, 2015, Blatter and Platini were both found guilty of ethics violations, which led to a ban from the sport until 2023.

The 2015 corruption case was one of the organization’s biggest, if not the biggest scandal. In May 2014, 14 people were charged by the FBI with racketeering and bodily money laundering. Many allegations were at the center of this, ranging from a claim that Qatari officials paid FIFA ($1.5m) to host the 2022 World Cup, to claims that Nike paid over $40 million to be the main merchandise supplier to the Brazil national team at the coveted competition. Prior to these allegations, there was concrete support, with former FIFA president Joao Havelange taking kickbacks from millions of companies claiming television rights for the 2002 and 2006 World Cups.

Despite these allegations and the mounds of controversy in which FIFA has found them, why does it matter these days? Well, as of July 2022, Blatter and Platini have been cleared of all legal charges, because ultimately the shady allegations aren’t concrete. Prosecutors initially accused the two former FIFA officials of illegally striking a $2 million deal that would see Platini on the winning side. Both men came forward saying that “justice has been served”, despite numerous supporting claims claiming otherwise. However, overall FIFA is an organization that does not shy away from making occasional allegations and allegations of corruption, mostly related to corruption and the FIFA World Cup, the current FIFA President , Gianni Infantino, is seen as a common enemy of Michel Platini and Sepp Blatter, who claimed Infantino was trying to destroy their reputation.

Pixellot expands in Latin America by signing with the National Football Association of Chile (ANFP). Under the new agreement, Pixellot is providing its automated video and data technology to improve training and coaching for clubs across Chile.

The ANFP has invested in 40 Pixellot Air camera systems and distributed them to all clubs to help the Chilean national team’s sports directorate monitor and track matches across the country. Thanks to Pixellot’s cameras, national teams can view all matches in the training area, allowing continuous monitoring of promising players throughout Chile, without neglecting any region.

“Chile is among the first CONMEBOL member states to implement Pixellot’s artificial intelligence technology,” says Diego Karmy, Director of Development and New Projects at ANFP. “A real asset in increasing the visibility of youth football across the continent, Pixellot’s all-inclusive solution for football will help South American leagues identify and nurture promising talent, giving more players a chance of success. .”

Thanks to this investment, the ANFP can ensure that the clubs’ youth academies have the high-level technological equipment they need to generate more information and better analysis of the development of their players. The clubs themselves will also have a record of all the matches of the academy football series to generate analysis, statistics and strategies defined by the various technical bodies.

“We are proud to be part of ANFP’s choice to revolutionize the Chilean football scene,” says Alon Werber, CEO of Pixellot. “Following successful experiences in European leagues, CONMEBOL State Associations across South America are showing interest in Pixellot’s automated video and analytics solution, and we look forward to partnering with clubs across the continent to help make football more visible and accessible to all.”

Latrobe Youth Football Association enters season-long merger with Jeannette Program http://fc-dnepr.com/latrobe-youth-football-association-enters-season-long-merger-with-jeannette-program/ Fri, 09 Sep 2022 07:00:00 +0000 http://fc-dnepr.com/latrobe-youth-football-association-enters-season-long-merger-with-jeannette-program/

Young football players from the Greater Latrobe Area Midget Football Association have the opportunity to play in 2022 after all.

GLAMFA and the Jeannette Midget Athletic Association merged for one season after Latrobe association officials determined it did not have enough players to continue its season safely.

About a third of football players and cheerleaders in the Latrobe area have chosen to switch to the Jeannette program, according to GLAMFA board member Amber Gross. The coaches were also invited to participate in the merged team, which played its first match.

Speaking on behalf of the Latrobe Area Board of Directors, Gross called the one-season merger “an incredible opportunity.”

“These kids had their whole season and their love of the game was unexpectedly taken away from them, and Jeannette gave our kids the opportunity to get that back,” Gross said.

The Latrobe association launched an appeal to interrupt its 2022 season in mid-August. Program parents initially hoped their children could join the Greater Latrobe School District program, but district officials said they could not allow players to join a month and a half late.

After the district turned them down, Latrobe and Jeannette executives met and agreed to a one-season merger, according to JMAA president Dorsey Cox. Both programs are part of the Big East league.

The hosts have provided uniforms for GLAMFA players, but Latrobe players stand out on the pitch with their helmets.

Cox said the players have “integrated well” so far.

“I think we can both grow from (the merger) and learn from each other,” Cox said.

Dan Cooper, Jeannette’s coach for the 9 and 10 year olds, thinks it’s important that the kids at GLAMFA can do what they love and play football this season.

“It was a good thing,” he said. “The children are enthusiastic and ready to play, and the parents have been very helpful.”

Fan token platform Socios extends its partnership with the Argentine Football Association (AFA) http://fc-dnepr.com/fan-token-platform-socios-extends-its-partnership-with-the-argentine-football-association-afa/ Wed, 31 Aug 2022 14:51:00 +0000 http://fc-dnepr.com/fan-token-platform-socios-extends-its-partnership-with-the-argentine-football-association-afa/

Socios.com has renewed its partnership with the Argentine Football Association through 2026 to help drive Web 3 fan engagement.

Chiliz Blockchain CEO Alexandre Dreyfus made the announcement on Twitter. Socios will also help the Argentine Football Association grow its $ARG fan token and create a token-centric global engagement and rewards community.

The AFA is the latest addition to Socios.com’s ever-growing catalog of world-renowned sporting talent, along with Argentina and Paris Saint-Germain striker Lionel Messi.

Good for the AFA brand, says AFA President

The $ARG token, which was originally released in May 2021, currently runs on the Chiliz blockchain. Fans holding tokens can vote in polls and participate in games and competitions. They will be rewarded for their loyalty with non-fungible VIP experiences, merchandise and free tokens.
Dreyfus said Chiliz is excited about all the opportunities ahead, including the FIFA World Cup in Qatar this year. The AFA President highlighted the importance of the new partnership in generating digital revenue for the future of Argentine football and strengthening the
association‘s brand presence.

The AFA ruffled its feathers earlier this year when it signed a five-year sponsorship deal with Binance, which Chiliz claimed was in breach of a three-year contract between the football association and itself. same. Under the original agreement, Chiliz would develop the $ARG token and the league’s name would be changed to Torneo Socios.com during the 2021 football season.

At the time, Chiliz said he was “outraged” by the AFA’s deal with Binance and filed a lawsuit against the AFA to “protect” the rights of fans who already own $ARG tokens. On January 31, 2022, an Argentinian court ruled that the AFA and Torneos y Comptencias must take all necessary steps to ensure that contracts regarding the $ARG fan token, national team sponsorship and naming rights are honored.

Socios.com expands to major football leagues

Socios.com is on a mission to conquer the world of football, making inroads into top leagues in the United States, Italy, Spain, France, England and Turkey. Some of his early conquests were Turkish club Galatasaray Sports Club, French club Paris Saint-Germain, Italian clubs Juventus and AS Roma, English club West Ham United and Spanish side Atletico Madrid. Earlier this year, his deals signed with 26 teams taking part in the US Major League Soccer tournament. According to CoinMarketCap, at press time, the 24-hour trading volume on Chiliz was around $13.5 million, with fan tokens from Paris Saint-Germain and English club Manchester City Football Club having the volumes highest 24-hour trades of $1,332,537 and $967,786. Both clubs won the titles in their respective domestic leagues last season. Socios.com has also dipped its toes into the National Basketball Association and the National Football Leagues in the United States. Fan tokens have drawn criticism that they can be open to market manipulation and that fan voting should not be monetized.

The Cambridgeshire Cats will be back in the British American Football Association, Premier Division next season.

They cruised to a 44-34 win over the Hertfordshire Cheetahs in the BAFA Premier League semi-final last weekend to return to the top tier for the first time in eight years.

Having come close to promotion in 2019, losing in the semi-finals, they did better this time around and Cats head coach Andy Whiteoak said: “It’s great to take the next step and play for the championship.”

The Hertfordshire Cheetahs quickly took a 13-0 lead before the Cats cut it back to 13-13 with two touchdown passes from Mark Rivett (6). An interception return touchdown from Maleek Addae (87) gave the Cats a brief lead before the Cheetahs battled back to enter halftime with a two-point lead.

The see-saw nature continued into the third quarter, with the Cats giving up a fumble return touchdown before two more Rivett touchdowns gave the Cats a 32-28 lead heading into the fourth quarter.

Veteran cornerback Chris King (21) gave the Cats their second defensive score of the day, and Kayode Dennis (17) scored the final touchdown to complete the victory.

“It’s special, a culmination of all the hard work we’ve put in since losing to Solent in the semi-finals,” defensive lineman Chris Fenton said.

“It makes all the efforts during the lockdown and after the lockdown worthwhile. We were able to test ourselves against the best in the division after a season against local teams from lower divisions and coming out on top is proof that our confidence in ourselves was not misplaced. I have been playing football for almost 20 years and this is only the second time I have reached a final. Now is the time to prepare and make sure we walk away as champions.

The BAFA Division One final will take place in London on September 4, and by reaching it, the Cats have secured a place in the Premier Division for next season.

The Cats won the British National Gridiron League, the National Division Three Final in 1994 and then Division Two in 1995.

They were again promoted to the Premier Division in 2012, despite a 5-5 season, and spent two seasons there, in 2013 and 2014.

“To be promoted to the Premier Division is a just reward for the hard work and commitment shown by the players, coaches and organizational staff of the Cats,” said Whiteoak.

“I am so proud of everything we have achieved as a team this season, and I look forward to the challenges the Premier Division will bring in 2023.”
