Central Regional is Jersey Mike’s Football Team of the Week.

Each week this fall, Jersey Mike’s and Shore Sports Network will select a Team of the week based on his performance over the past weekend.

Jersey Mike’s Team of the Week for Week 4 is Central Regional, who scored a decisive victory by beating the then number one. 10 Raritan, 41-17, in a non-divisional road game to go undefeated and earn a spot in Shore Sports Network’s latest Football Top 10. Shore Sports Network stopped in practice Tuesday to present the Golden Eagles and head coach Jarrett Pidgeon with a special game ball and a $ 500 Jersey Mike’s gift card.

Junior running back Chase Gumbrecht ran for 288 yards and five touchdowns in 37 carries and Central’s defense kept Raritan out of the end zone for the final three quarters to give the Golden Eagles a decisive victory over a Raritan team. who has been a constant competitor. The game was tied at 14 after the first quarter, but Central controlled the rest of the game, edging the Rockets 27-3.

Gumbrecht continued his breakout season almost rushing 300 yards for the second game in a row. He has 977 yards and 16 total touchdowns this season. Junior quarterback Jahaziel Garcia added 73 rushing yards, including a 42-yard touchdown rush, as Central ran for 361 yards. While Gumbrecht has been the star so far this season, the offensive line deserves so much credit. They dominated as the play progressed and led the way for Central averaging 8.8 yards per rushing attempt.

Central entered the game after shutting out his first three opponents, all three of which were five TD wins for the Eagles. However, Raritan quickly ended the shutout streak by scoring on the game’s first possession. Central responded in the tie but Raritan came straight back to the pitch to take a 14-7 lead. From there, Central’s defense made the necessary adjustments against Raritan’s triple-option offense and kept the Rockets out of the end zone the rest of the way.

Senior defensive back Colin Steimle pulled off a key fumble late in the first half when Raritan was deep in central territory and senior free safety Dominick Fraulo had an interception in the fourth quarter that led to the final touchdown of the match. Junior defensive end Logan Brennan recorded a team record of 14 tackles with two tackles for a loss, Fraulo made nine tackles, Steimle has seven tackles and senior linebacker Anthony Musso has seven tackles with a sack to lead the defensive effort.

In four games, Central has the No. 2 offense in the Shore Conference with 36.3 points per game and also the No. 2 defense with 3.5 points per game.

The Eagles don’t have time to rest on their laurels, however, with another huge game looming on Friday night. Central will welcome their unbeaten compatriot Marlboro (3-0) to town for a massive Liberty Division game that will likely decide the Division Championship. Marlboro will look to win the title while Central can win at least one tie by taking out the visiting Mustangs.
