The Ohio State football program has one of the most iconic uniforms in the game. The silver helmets, scarlet jerseys and gray pants are as recognizable as any college football uniform. They are tied to the state of Ohio across the country and across the world.
So why would I say the program needs to change the uniforms? Well, listen to me. Currently, the home and away shirts have white stripes on the sleeves. Before, they had gray stripes. That’s the biggest change I’m looking for; bring back the gray sleeves!
The Buckeyes are called Scarlet and Gray for a reason. They don’t just need to have the gray pants, they also need gray in the shirt. I don’t even know why they took them off the sleeves to begin with. Maybe they thought white looked slimmer, I don’t know.
I’m a traditionalist when it comes to uniforms. I’m not even a fan of some of the replacements the Buckeyes have had, except for the all-grays. These were sick. The all scarlet ones weren’t that bad, but I hated the all black ones. I think they should just stick to their typical home and away for the majority of games.
In order for the Ohio State football team to have the perfect uniforms again, they must have the gray sleeves. I mean, take a look at the photo at the top of the page. Don’t they look nice? These scream “Scarlet and Grey” more than the current uniforms.
I’m not sure I’ll ever make it, but I know I’m not the only one claiming it. Several Buckeye fans feel this too. Maybe one day we will finally get them back.
