Nittany Lions victory over Ohio game balls

Penn State Football picked up a comfortable 46-10 win over the Ohio Bobcats on Saturday, so there were plenty of players catching fans’ attention.

However, even though it’s about as unofficial as it gets, we only have three game balls to hand out: one for each phase of the game.

So here are our three game ball winners for Penn State Football from their victory over Ohio.

Attack – Nick Singleton (RB)

This one is no surprise.

True freshman sensation Nick Singleton has been the talk of the town since his breakout performance against Ohio on Saturday afternoon.

Singleton finished the day with 179 rushing yards on just 10 carries (17.9 yards per carry) and found the end zone twice.

It was so refreshing to finally see some explosive runs from a Penn State Football running back.

Through two games, Singleton leads the nation in a very important category.

The Nittany Lions have clearly found their No. 1 running back now, and we should see plenty more of Nick Singleton there.

It’s certainly exciting to think about what he can do throughout the season and throughout his career as he continues to improve.

Defense – Ji’Ayir Brown (S)

Ji’Ayir Brown quietly played an excellent game on Saturday.

Tyler Elsdon led the team with six tackles on the game, but four others were tied for second with five tackles; Brown was one of those four.

Of those five tackles from Brown, four of them were solo tackles, and he also added a half tackle for loss and a pass deflection for good measure.

Brown is one of the best defensive backs in the Big Ten, and that kind of performance means nothing to him. Either way, he did a lot to earn himself a Victory Bell Rings game ball for his outing against Ohio.

Special Teams – Barney Amor (P)

Barney Amor won a Victory Bell Rings match ball for special teams in consecutive weeks to start the 2022 season.

In Week 2 against Ohio, Amor threw three times for an average of 49 yards per punt – an improvement from his 46.9 yards per punt average in Week 1. Plus, he knocked down two of those punts inside the 20, one of which was a beauty he stopped on whoever set up safety on the next play.

As always, we hope Penn State doesn’t have to use their punter too often, but it’s good to know they have Barney Amor on hand when they need to kick because he’s been excellent so far.

It could be argued that Parker Washington won Special Teams game ball because he averaged 11.5 yards per return on four punt returns, but this doesn’t get any better than checking one out. on the one like Amor did.
