North and South Stars Football Game Friday at Sierra Vista HS – San Gabriel Valley Tribune

After several weeks of preparation, the north vs. south soccer teams in the San Gabriel Valley are ready to compete for bragging rights.

Sierra Vista High School hosts the annual Friday game, which begins at 7:30 p.m.

Tickets can be purchased at the game. $12 for adults and children 5 and under are free.

New Sierra Vista coach Jesse Ceniceros will coach the South team and DeJuan Shamburger of Pasadena will coach the North team.

Ceniceros hasn’t coached since El Monte won the 2019 CIF Southern Section Division 12 title, the CIF State Southern California Regional 5-AA title and capped a perfect 16-0 season with a CIF State Division 5- YY. But Ceniceros was hired by Sierra Vista a few months ago, and this will be his first game.

El Rancho’s Elijah Mitchell and Schur’s Jesse Preciado are the quarterbacks who will lead the South team along with California running back’s high threat Vance Johnson and La Serna wide receiver Nick Meza.

The North team looks particularly loaded with Pasadena quarterback Kaden Johnson and Bulldogs wide receiver Mekhi Fox to accompany linebacker Ahmad Jolley. Others to watch are Northview defensive end Lewis Madrigal and CIF-SS division title-winning running back Cheo Medina.
