Qatar Airways renews sponsorship with Qatar Football Association for two more seasons

DOHA, Qatar – Qatar Airways today signed a partnership agreement with the Qatar Football Association (QFA), demonstrating its commitment as the Official Airline Sponsor of the 2019 AFC Asian Cup Champions.

The contract renewal will see the country’s national carrier partner with QFA for the 2021/22 and 2022/23 seasons ahead of the highly anticipated FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™. To commemorate the partnership, Qatar Airways GCEO, HE Akbar Al Baker, and Sheikh Hamad bin Ahmed Al Thani, President of the Qatar Football Association, attended a signing ceremony earlier today.

National team players and coaching staff from all age groups have participated in several overseas tournaments. The senior team recently took part as a guest nation in the FIFA World Cup European qualifiers, competing with Azerbaijan, Ireland, Luxembourg, Portugal and Serbia in Group A.

After a successful debut in CONMEBOL Copa America 2019; the senior team has also performed well in international tournaments such as the 2021 CONCACAF Gold Cup in the United States, reaching the semi-finals. The team finished Group E of the 2023 Asian Cup qualifiers on pole position. Meanwhile, the U-23 national team continued the legacy by securing qualification for the 2022 AFC U-23 Asian Cup to be held in Uzbekistan.
