New Texas Tech football coach Joey McGuire will begin spring training on March 22 and the Red Raiders will play their annual spring game on April 23.
The Red Raiders will have three training sessions per week over a five-week period, mainly on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, except during the week of April 10-16.
All spring practices will be open to high school coaches and technical football scholars. Tech will announce opportunities for fans around Spring Training and the Spring Game in the coming weeks.
In addition to March 22, the other March training dates are March 24, March 26, March 29, and March 31, the latter of which also serves as a tech pro day for scouts.
The April practice dates leading up to the spring game are April 2, April 5, April 7, April 9, April 11, April 13, April 15, April 19, and April 21.
Former Texas Tech wide receiver Erik Ezukanma announced Friday that he has been invited to participate in the NFL’s scouting combine. The annual event is scheduled for March 1-7 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.
Ezukanma caught 138 passes for 2,165 yards and 15 touchdowns in four seasons at Tech. Over the past three seasons, he’s posted nearly identical numbers, averaging 45 catches for 705 yards and five touchdowns.
He declared himself for the NFL draft on December 23, leaving with two years of eligibility remaining.
