The Argentine Football Association wins its first betting sponsor

The Argentine Football Association (AFA) has appointed a sports betting and casino operator, BetWarrioras official sponsor under a four-year contract.

BetWarrior will be the main sponsor of the Argentina National Teams XI, AFA Cup and domestic tournaments, and would be the company’s biggest sponsor to date as it becomes the AFA’s first betting sponsor.

Football’s governing body has announced that the sponsorship will debut in the upcoming friendly match between Argentina’s men’s XI and Italy at Wembley Stadium in London on June 1.

President of the AFA Claudio Tapia underlined the importance of the agreement for Argentine football, saying: “We are very happy to add a brand like BetWarrior to the AFA sponsors. We have worked to continue generating resources that target the economic strength of our institution and the clubs that are part of the AFA.

“Without a doubt, in this important year, we have redoubled our efforts and are focusing on generating new commercial agreements in this direction. We welcome BetWarrior to our association. We will work together to get the most out of this agreement.

The partnership reflects wider changes in Argentina, as provincial governments have been allowed to launch independently regulated online gambling regimes.

Last year, BetWarrior was among the first sports betting operators to be licensed by the province of Buenos Aires by IPlyC – ensure its presence in Argentina’s most populous state through a partnership with the local incumbent operator binaries and Intralot SA.

Co-founded in 2019 by former PokerStars executives Morten Tonnesen and José del Pino, BetWarrior seeks to become the first fully-fledged multi-market sportsbook operator in South America.

Active in 11 South American markets, BetWarrior is currently led by Managing Director Zeno Ossko, former Managing Director of BetStars and CEO of DACH sportsbook MyBet.
