By Ruben Morales Iglesias: The Belize Men’s National Football Team (BMNT) is due to report for training next week at the FFB headquarters in Belmopan ahead of Concacaf Nations League games in June.

The Football Federation of Belize (FFB) said earlier this month that it was calling on 22 players from the Belize Men’s National Team (BMNT) Pool to report to camp on Wednesday, May 25 for four matches of the Concacaf National League, the first of which is Thursday June 2 against the Dominican Republic.

BMNT are in Group D with the Dominican Republic, Guatemala and French Guiana in Concacaf League B.

The game against the Dominican Republic is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. at the FFB stadium in Belmopan.

Right after this match, BMNT will travel to Guatemala to face the Guatemala national team at 1:00 p.m. Sunday at Doroteo Guamuch Flores Stadium in Guatemala City.

The third match will be against French Guiana at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday June 9 at the Stade FFB.

This year’s final match will be against French Guiana on Tuesday, June 14 at the Dr Edmard Lama Municipal Stadium in Cayenne, French Guiana. The BMNT traveled this week to Guatemala City to obtain their French visas to travel to the South American country which is a territory of France.

Two years ago, the BMNT had to forfeit the match against French Guiana because France had not authorized the landing of the plane that the FFB had hired to fly the team there.

The remaining two matches will be played during FIFA’s window for international matches in March 2023.

On Friday, March 24, 2023, Belize will host Guatemala at 4:00 p.m. at FFB Stadium.

The final match will be against the Dominican Republic on Monday, March 27 at the Félix Sánchez Olympic Stadium in Santo Domingo.
