The SDSU football match, a winning bet for Grand Falls Casino

LARCHWOOD, IA (KELO) – South Dakota State University’s deep run in the college football playoffs is garnering a lot of interest among the local sports betting crowd. The Jackrabbits face Montana State in the FCS semifinals on Saturday, the winner advancing to the national title game in Frisco, TX. The game is expected to result in a big handful for sports betting at Grand Falls Casino.

The Betfred Sportsbook says that last week’s SDSU win over Villanova didn’t spark much betting action at the casino. But Saturday’s game, with so much at stake for both teams, should result in a lot more betting.

Sports bettors at Grand Falls Casino are weighing the SDSU’s odds of defeating Montana State in Saturday’s FCS semi-final game.

“I’m going to place a bet tomorrow on our house, SDSU Jackrabbits and hopefully they have a big win. Equal teams and we just hope for the best, you know, ”said Justin Lickfelt of Aberdeen.

The Betfred Sportsbook expects the SDSU game to generate 10% of Saturday’s total, an amount that could run into the thousands of dollars.

“Today we already have some bets coming up and hopefully tomorrow at 10 am we have more action,” said Joee Ektnitphong, Head of Sports Betting at Betfred.

It’s always a busy time for sports betting with the college bowling season kicking off and the NFL season still going strong. So betting on the SDSU will only sweeten the pot.

“This is the hometown of SDSU. So people really like them, and they like to come and cheer them on. Even basketball games for Jackrabbits, people come and watch and bet, ”Ektniphong said.

Sports betting manager Joee Ektnitphong’s ties to the Jackrabbits go beyond the pros. It’s also personal. Her son graduated from SDSU on Friday with a master’s degree.

“He’s been there for almost 5 years now. I am very happy and Go Jacks, ”said Ektnitphong.

The Betfred Sportsbook opens at 8 a.m. on Saturdays. They expect queues of 40 people at 11 a.m. just before the first list of games starts.

SDSU-Montana State game starts at 1 p.m.

If SDSU wins and advances to the title match, fans can reserve a spot on KELOLAND Media Group’s VIP FANFare to Frisco.
