In the first match of Matchday 6 of the BOV Gozo First Division Football League, Sannat Lions and Victoria Hotspurs earned one point each from a two-goal draw. This game was a straight clash from the bottom of the table as the Hotspurs were without points in their previous four games while Sannat were second from bottom with four points in their previous five games. So it was Victoria’s first point in the championship and at the same time it was Sannat’s second consecutive positive result. In the end, Sannat seemed more satisfied with the outcome since there are still four points ahead of the same Victoria, the latter however having one game less.

The final score of the match was just as both teams tried their best to secure victory. For this match, the Hotspurs had Chris Buttigieg making a return to the substitutes’ bench as a manager, and changes to the starting line-up from previous fixtures showed the Citizens were determined to start the recovery to try to walk away. from the bottom of the table. However, Sannat shared the game during the first half and managed to take the break in the lead so that after the restart they were able to administer the game. The game had a turning point just after the hour mark game when the Hotspurs missed a chance to convert a penalty so that in the following minutes their opponents gained confidence and also came close to scoring a second goal. Once the Hotspurs scored the equaliser, the final moments of the encounter became more tense, with one player from each side sent off and victory could have gone either way.
